Shareholders massively supported Iberdrola's management in the 2023 General Shareholders' Meeting.
On average, support exceeded 98 % of the total votes for and against the proposals of the Board of Directors, which were structured in four blocks on the agenda: Management Results, Governance and Sustainability System, Remuneration and Board of Directors.
The General Shareholders' Meeting was attended by more than 90,000 shareholders through multiple channels, some of them enabled since its call, and with the possibility of attending both in person and online, reaching a quorum of close to 72 % of the share capital. As a result, all shareholders entitled to participate received a dividend of € 0.005 per share, which was conditional on achieving a quorum of 70 %.
In addition, it is worth highlighting the increase in the value of the share, which in the last 20 years has risen from € 3.5 to around € 12, and € 6.5 per share have been distributed in dividends, multiplying the investment by five.
The shareholders thus endorsed a financial year 2022 in which the strategy that Iberdrola has been executing for two decades has enabled it to achieve records in investment, financial strength, international expansion and results, as well as social contribution, job creation and emissions reduction.
For all of the above, Iberdrola thanks the shareholders for their trust, their involvement in the Company, and their ongoing support and backing, with which the Strategic Plan is making steady progress, with 60 % of renewable capacity installed or under construction, close to 100 % of investments in networks covered by agreed frameworks or under negotiation, and an asset rotation and alliance plan amounting to € 7.5 billion fully completed as of the date of the General Shareholders' Meeting.
"The Iberdrola that we present to you today is a more solid, sustainable and diversified company than ever before, allowing the Board of Directors to propose to this General Meeting a record shareholder remuneration of 0.49 euros per share, an increase of more than 10 %"
